Als Schmidt anllich seiner Erzhlung Seelandschaft mit Pocahontas 1955 wegen Gotteslsterung und Pornographie angeklagt wurde, suchte Schlotter den Kontakt und organisierte den Umzug der Schmidts nach Darmstadt, um sie dem erzkonservativen Gerichtsbezirk Trier die Schmidts wohnten damals in Kastel bei Saarburg zu entziehen.
