The green painted steel buckle is the early variation with the flat cam lever, approximately dating the chinstrap's production from late 1942 to mid 1943. The buckle is secured by a United Carr rivet. This would be an ideal chinstrap for a helmet liner with either non painted or green painted steel A washers. The painting on this panel is beautiful and quality has held up BUT I’m almost certain this contributed to respiratory issues. It was next to my bed for a year and I recently noticed it’s still shedding red/brown dust. The wood was clearly painted over and it makes me skeptical about the wood that was used. The panel itself feels like it’s made cardboard. If you’re sensitive or plan to place this panel in a main living area, I would not recommend
